Seersucker is a 100% cotton fabric with a puckered texture that holds away from the skin, which makes it very comfortable in hot weather. You can sew a skirt, trousers, a dress or a tunic from it.

Shrinkage
Seersucker can shrink by about 5%, while a plain cotton fabric of the same weight shrinks less. Pre-wash seersucker before cutting and add a little extra length and width so the finished garment keeps its fit.

Make it your own
You can make it in any colour and pattern you like, or have a tailor or a fashion house design it for you. Seersucker does not need much ironing, which makes it a practical choice for children’s clothes and holiday wardrobes.
- Use a medium needle and a slightly longer stitch to avoid flattening the texture.
- Press lightly from the wrong side, because strong pressing flattens the puckers.
- Finish seams with an overlocker or zigzag stitch.
