An embroidered sleeveless tunic with a matching elastic-waist skirt is very comfortable and cool in summer. The embroidery adds a handmade charm, while the loose cut lets a child run and play freely.

The skirt has a waist with a cord and elastic, which makes it easy to put on and adjust as the child grows.

A clean buttonhole placket
For neat buttonholes, reinforce the placket with paper-backed interfacing or a stabiliser, and leave a fold allowance of about 3 cm. This keeps the buttonholes from stretching and the placket flat and crisp. See our interfacing guide for more.

Choose light, breathable cotton for both pieces and pre-wash it before you start, so that the embroidery and placket do not pucker after the first wash.
